Have you had that colleague always ready to roll up their sleeves and help mount the new TV or fix a leaky faucet? Or the resident maker of puns and repository of odd trivia titbits? For these (and the occasional text that needs writing), we usually turn to Crina, the copywriter who’s always ready to assemble ideas into phrases and flatpack furniture into usable office cabinets.
Here’s what Crina had to say in answer to our questions.
1. Tell us a bit about what you do at Vitality.
I’m Vitality’s copywriter – purveyor of product descriptions, email texts, blogs and more, hopefully putting my biology degree to good use explaining what CBD products are all about. I’m also often to be found up to my ears in website content and maintenance.
2. Vitality’s team is overwhelmingly made up of women (11 out of 12 people). How would you say this shapes your experience and the workplace culture here?
It’s one of the most relaxed team atmospheres I’ve ever worked in. Even when the workload hits hard, we know we can count on each other for help, encouragement and getting things done on time together. There are no big egos, inappropriate jokes or fights over the thermostat temperature!
3. What achievement are you most proud of so far (either personal or in the workplace)?
I never thought I’d learn to re-do an entire home, from plumbing and installing thermostats to building partition walls, plastering and laying tile, but I’m proud to have done a good job on all of these while still holding on to a good chunk of my mental health.
4. What’s a topic that you’re fascinated with? Or an artist/author/creator you’re always happy to get more content from?
I’ve always had an inquisitive mind that can get a bit obsessed with a topic for months or years, from dinosaurs to audio editing, so it’s hard to pick just one. One topic that’s always fascinated me is behaviour, whether in animals or people – finding both the universal languages that connect us and the things that make us unique.
5. Tell us a bit about a woman that you admire or find inspiring.
I’ve always admired Kelly Clarkson as a whole package – from masterful artist whose powerful voice is always full of emotion, to open and kind person who is genuinely interested in anyone currently engaging her in conversation. She inspires me to hold on to my curiosity and empathy, and to be less apologetic about letting my quirky side show.
6. What are a few of your favourite things?
I love taking the time to engage my senses and live in the moment. Ginger and cinnamon added to just about any food or beverage. The TV show Arcane – a masterpiece of animated filmmaking from the mind of hundreds of artists telling genuine human connection stories. The smell of rain and of fresh limes. Discovering new places to walk and kayak with my wife. The simple joy of meeting and petting cats and dogs (and people, just with less petting 😉). The serenity of spending a sunny afternoon in a meadow by a creek.
